Canning 101 with This & That Jam

Join Ali and Ben of This & That Jam from Durham, NC as they take you through the process of canning. Participants will learn about canning and make a traditional Eastern European Beet Jam (Eingemacht) to take home. This workshop hopes to inspire you to create your own culinary creations, to spread on a biscuit, pair with a bowl of cheese grits, on top of scallion pancakes, create a salad dressing, or layer into your sandwich.
Class size is limited to 20 people age 18 and older. Cost is $20. Pre-registration and payment required.

About the Instructors
Ben & Ali live in a small home in Durham, North Carolina with their daughter, Esme. They met in Brooklyn where Ben was teaching cooking classes to kids and Ali was working as a baker at Four & Twenty Blackbirds. Ben’s background includes a degree from Tufts, where he studied the history and anthropology of food. He also has experience farming on three continents. Ali graduated from William & Mary for a degree in sociolinguistics, though she’s much more fond of baking. Esme only arrived in December, so she doesn’t have a degree just yet, but she likes gardening, dogs and things that crinkle.
